5 years tomorrow

Who would have thought it? - 5 years ago I married my beautiful man at Delamore Lodge on Auckland's Waiheke Island, and here I am happier and more in love than ever before! Isn't it strange how life works out? Okay admittedly we have been together for nearly 11 years but it just keeps getting better! (So any single girls out there reading this - rest assured there IS hope!)

It has been a great start to the New Year actually - what with the dinner at White - oh that's right was going to give it a review.... well suffice to say very glad we did not pay! Ian and I reckoned it cost over $70 for each of our food bills and the people we were with (Robert and Shelly Fulton from Mississippi) also bought three bottles of wine and each of those were over $140 each AND there was a 15% surcharge being a public holiday.

They were very nice people and the venue was of course stunning but to be honest the food was pretentious, over priced for what you got and in reality just not that good! It is also difficult when you are sitting in a highly over priced restaurant trying to make "small talk" with people who you met about 15 minutes prior.... still it WAS free and I DID get crab, scampi and creme brulee so shouldn't REALLY complain... :o)

Oh and the other great start to the New Year is that I got back to my job (no THAT was not the great thing) and discovered I had been recalled for a major advertising campaign being shot in Auckland next month. Now whilst I don't know for sure if I will land the role it is an AWESOME feeling being short-listed and makes all the auditions and everything worth it to even get this far... but will def keep you posted.

Anyway have a great weekend - I know we will - my darling and I are staying at The Langham all weekend and dinner tomorrow night at Number Five (cause it is our 5th wedding anniversary - how cute is that!) Ciao xxx

Hi De Hi

Sorry about the lack of posts lately but honestly have not been doing too much which is SO NICE! We finished up Forget Me Knot at Dolphin (our 7th show for the year) so basically we are just r-e-l-a-x-i-n-g before Summer and Xmas are on our door step.

The big bit of news of course is that I am directing next year. I am doing a play called THE LARAMIE PROJECT, which I have been taking around theatres for what seems like forever and finally someone has agreed to stage it with me at the helm! VERY exciting, nerve-wracking, excrutiating, tense and any other scary thought you can come up with.

However have decided that this weekend will not even think about it - we are staying at The Langham ALL WEEKEND (can't wait), so will be a time to catch up with some of Ian's lovely friends from work, but also a time to soak in the tub with lots of bubbles, dye my hair, de fuzz my legs and all that other lovely girly stuff that I never seem to get time to do.

Also the MIGHTY All Blacks are playing this weekend in the build up to the semi-finals of the World Cup, so yet another excuse (not that I need one) to lie in the GORGEOUS Langham Bed, drink Champagne and cheer for the AB's - ahh 'tis a tough life - HAVE A GOOD ONE!

hens nights, broken heals, investitures at government house

Well what a weekend! As stated not one but TWO hen's nights..... both fabulous nights (broken heal on my boot at Caluzzi aside :o)) Congratulations to Sue and Ngaire on living through them both - but the absolute highlight of the last couple of days has to be Dad's investiture as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit at Government House yesterday.

Alot of people have asked me - well that sounds great but WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN - well the easiest explanation is on the leaflet to the right where it states ".... recognises those persons who in any field of endeavour, have rendered meritorious service to the Crown and nation or who have become distinguished by their eminence, talents, contributions or other merits..."

I can also now tell people that Dad is one of a very few select people that have been invited to a dinner party at Government House on Wednesday evening - cor talk about "lives of the blimmin rich and famous" - oh and as a lovely aside to the exciting events of yesterday - we were driving home from Government House (having been delivered in one of the Langham Limousines) and Dad gets a call from the casting lady at Shortland Street and has to rush in there to assist with a voice over requirement they had..... phew what a day!!! and Dad - once again WE ARE SO VERY PROUD OF YOU!!!

Another BIG weekend ahead

Man whoever said life gets busier as you get older was right - after having had a relatively quiet week - catching up on TV and what not, it all starts again tomorrow night. Well my beloved husband managed to get us accommodation at the Langham all weekend and I have the feeling I will need that humungous bed just to lie in and recover.

First off I have a "Hen's Night" on Friday for my friend from the theatre, Sue Driscoll, at the renowned cabaret Caluzzi - going to be a hoot and can't wait, then Saturday night another Hen's Night - this one for Ngaire starting at her friends house and then I think they will be boogying the night away at Boogie Wonderland - but somehow the temptation of hot chocolate and the aforementioned humungous bed may be too much to turn down.

A relatively quiet day on Sunday and then on Monday - dah dah dah (or whatever trumpet blares look like written down) it is Dad's Investiture at Government House ........ I am SO very proud of him and can't wait for what will be a fitting tribute to a truly awesome career for a truly awesome man......... so how is YOUR weekend looking????
